"I fell in with a group of young women, administrative assistants at 2 World Trade Center. One was still crying. She was about to enter the World Trade Center when the first plane hit. "Arms, legs. Parts of people. They were falling on my head," she said."

Allen Plummer:

"When the first one hit," he said, "we all thought, ’Oh so the building’ll be on fire.’ It was sad, but you know what they say about New Yorkers working through anything."

Salon.com:

"I watched in horror as people jumped out of the upper floors to their deaths -- desks were coming out -- people were screaming for help. It was complete chaos. I called my wife and she said that a plane hit the WTC, so we thought it was an accident. I just sat and watched it burn, there was nothing anyone could do except stay out of the way."
