world trade center timeline : 09/11/2001

United Airlines Flight 175, from Boston to Los Angeles, contained 56 passengers, seven crew members and two pilots. This plane crashed into the second World Trade Center tower, causing a major explosion. It hits the south face, and almost appears to break through to the east face.

A witness on CNN:

"I saw people jumping off the building," said one witness. "Everyone was screaming, running ... people were stampeding, people started screaming that there was another plane coming and the second building just exploded."

A witness on Whatever-whenever:

"I think about being below one of the towers as it fell. I saw it from my rooftop, the second one, anyway. I saw the glass shoot through the air, and I saw the huge gash of smoke, and it all moved together like a limb shooting out. (I’ve only seen things like that in the movies. I never wanted to see it in real life.) And below that tower fell a storm of dirt and metal and glass on the innocent people below."
